Gancia, drink beauty

Gancia, drink beauty

Born in Italy, before Italy. As early as 1850, Gancia created the first sparkling wines in the Italian peninsula. Since then, Gancia has become part of Italian culture and heritage. Which Italian cannot recall the memory of a Gancia bottle being placed on their family’s beautifully dressed Christmas table?
Beauty is deeply rooted in Gancia’s identity, history and wines. The beauty of the hills around Asti and Canelli, where the vines have been grown by Piemonte farmers for generations. The beauty of the brand’s creative expressions, dating back to the 19th century: labels, posters, films, all preciously conserved in Gancia’s Canelli museum. The beauty of the wine-makers’ savoir-faire, that of the Charmat method or the Metodo Classico. The beauty of the wines themselves, their golden, pink and bronze highlights, and the famous bright red of the Americano. The beauty of sharing and tasting : all deeply rooted in friendship, love and the dolce vita! Gancia is about Italy, the nation it so proudly belongs to. Is Italy not, among all the others in the world, the country of beauty?
While we usually contemplate and admire beauty, what if we could drink beauty? Today, this is what Gancia is proposing us to do with its newly designed collections of Charmat wines - full of joyful and audacious colors – and Alta Langa Metodo Classico, now presented in an innovative although deeply traditional wrapping.
But the real beauty is what lies inside. What is true for a person is true for a wine. Together with its farming partners, Gancia is constantly improving the quality of its wines. At Vinitaly 2018, we are proud to announce the creation of three new great wines. The Blanc de Blancs, Charmat method, which will make the charm and delicacy of a 100% Chardonnay accessible to all. The Alta Langa cuvée 36 mesi Pas Dosé: a wonderfully pure and light Metodo Classico produced with no added sugar. And, last but not least, the exceptional Alta Langa cuvée 120 mesi Riserva, a wine that mixes the best of nature – the grand millésime 2006 – with the greatest art of wine making: patience. A wine that will make you say: “How beautiful!”
This is Gancia’s soul and ambition: to drink beauty !

21.10.2014 - THE LANGHE, ROERO AND MONFERRATO VINEYARDS LANDSCAPES OF HUMANITY!

21.10.2014 - THE LANGHE, ROERO AND MONFERRATO VINEYARDS LANDSCAPES OF HUMANITY!

From today "The viticultural landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato" can boast the title of Unesco World Heritage. The fiftieth title awarded to Italy was conferred, during the 38th session of the UNESCO Committee in Doha, to an area with an undisputed vocation to excellence, history and tradition. The idea of the candidacy started at the behest of the local administration more than ten years ago by Canelli, in the historic "Underground Cathedrals", one of which, Casa Gancia, can boast the birthright of the "Italian Spumante", then expanding to a wider and more varied territory. In the motivation of the recognition, we read that these landscapes "are an exceptional living testimony of the historical tradition of the cultivation of the vine, of the winemaking processes, of a social, rural context and of an economic fabric based on the culture of wine". Taken together, the selected areas have an area of about 76 thousand hectares in the Langhe area and in the Alto and Basso Monferrato areas, involving over 100 municipal territories in the three provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria. The six main areas are: Langa del Barolo, Castello di Grinzane Cavour, Colline del Barbaresco, Nizza Monferrato and Barbera, Canelli and Asti Spumante, Monferrato of the "infernot". Prorpio in Canelli, an area mainly cultivated with Moscato Bianco and the territory of DOCG Asti, are guarded by the "Underground Cathedrals", the historic cellars that, thanks to the spectacular size of the vaulted rooms, represent one of the most significant architectural testimonies of the ancient viticultural vocation of this territory. Among these, the Gancia Cellars are a symbol of the unbreakable link between viticulture and the Piedmontese territory, an ideal place for the cultivation of muscat, pinot and chardonnay grapes. Here Carlo Gancia started an exciting work, which after 15 years of experiments inspired by the Champagne method, led to the creation of a new product based on Muscat, completely unprecedented compared to the French model, with more sweet and fruity notes. The first Italian Spumante was born in 1865, a Asti Metodo Classico, defining production rules still followed today.
